Belgian Haven by Dorothy McCormick
Dorothy McCormick @ Belgian Haven
Dorothy McCormick Belgian Haven started for her when she began living there 14 years ago. Her passion and love for horses makes every experience at Belgian Haven special. As a Reiki Master Practitioner, medical secretary, biofeedback practitioner, farmer, avid horse lover and Equine Raindrop Facilitator, Dorothy believes sharing is caring! Dorothy’s love for horses started at a young age and has continued until this very day!
When she was a little girl, Dorothy would walk a mile through a corn field just to smell a horse’s muzzle! Dorothy bought her first horse when she was 21 years old; a Belgian mare crossed with a quarter horse, and she has had many more since. Dorothy raised and bred Belgians for 10 years and now she breeds and raises Walsworth, which are Belgians bred down. Dorothy enjoys horseback riding with her Belgians and Appaloosa, driving and competing in horse pulling competitions, and working with people who love horses as much as she does. Students range from 3+ to 70 years old. You are never too old or too young!
Horses are 10 times more sensitive than we are and know our emotions before we even enter their 30 foot aura, which makes them great teachers! Dorothy loves all animals particularly horses, dogs, sheep, chickens, rabbits and cats. She was born and raised in Whitby, ON, and is a country girl at heart. Living close to Windfield Farms, she would have given her eye teeth to live there. She loved Northern Dancer and Secretariat. Her Appaloosa is Secretariats’ great-great-great grandson!
Another love of Dorothy’s is essential oils, which she incorporates into horse care and grooming, for stamina, demeanor, health and general overall appearance. Dorothy’s passion for essential oils began in 1999 when she took a course with the Mississauga School of Aromatherapy and became an aromatherapist. Dorothy was thrilled when she learned how to implement the Raindrop Technique with animals.
Dorothy is accredited with the Certified Horsemanship Association and is a member of the Belgian Horse Association, Central Canadian Horse Pulling Association. She is trained in First Aid and CPR. Dorothy has been a medical secretary for 30 years with Lakeridge Health and Ross Memorial Hospital and is the proud mom of two, and youngest daughter of seven.
At Belgian Haven, we hold many exciting apothecary workshops (learning how to make deoderant and chapstick for example), a wide variety of equine events, Equine Raindrop Workshops with your horse or ours, and so much more.

Positive energy, incredible experiences!
The amazing energy from Dorothy rolls right into the farm and all those involved. The healing, love and comfort from those animals is so warming! The people who she chooses to welcome on the farm for helping hands also shine with these amazing energies! I have had the pleasure to partake in events and also be of service alongside my family and both types of experiences have brought inner peace and genuine happiness! Thank you for doing such beautiful work!
